Physicalized Solids

In this tutorial, you will learn how to create physicalized solids using just the Crysis Sandbox 2 Editor.

Tutorial

First open up Crysis Sandbox 2 Editor and a level.

Once the level has loaded, open up the RollupBar. The RollupBar can be accessed from 'View>RollupBar'. On the RollupBar, select the Solid tool under the 'Objects' Tab.

Now create a solid by left clicking and holding, you can create the length and width of the solid. Left click once so you can create the height, drag up and it will add height to your solid. Once you have your solid created, press Escape to exit solid creation. Select the solid by left clicking it once.

Next go to the RollupBar again and under the object tab, scroll down to find the option 'Save To CGF'. Left click it once and an explorer window will pop up.

Locate the place you want to save your CGF, in this case 'Crysis>Game>Objects'. Name the CGF and click save when at the appropriate place.

The window will close and you will be back at the Editor view pane. On the RollupBar under the tab 'Objects', click on the sub tab 'Entity'. A list of folders and entities in the folders will appear. Find the folder 'Physics' and left click once on it to open it. In the list of entities that appear, double left click on the entity 'RigidBodyEx'.

Drag the entity into the view pane.

Now the entity is placed, select it by left clicking once on it and go back to the RollupBar. Under the tab 'Objects', there should be a list of options and tick boxes. Find the tab 'Entity Properties' and find 'Model', not 'Frozen Model', then left click on the small folder icon. This will open another explorer window which will be used to locate the solid you just saved.

Once located, left click on the CGF and left click 'Open'. The saved solid CGF should now appear on the RigidBodyEx as its model. We have the model ingame, but its not completely ready.

Select the RigidBodyEx again, then go back to the RollupBar. Under the 'Objects' tab, locate the tab 'Entity Properties' and find the options for: 'Density' and 'Mass' (These options may be hidden under the tab 'Physics'. Normally, the values would be -1 for both, but I've set some values as an example. Experiment with different values to see which works best for you.

You have successfully created a physical solid using just the tools in the Crysis Sandbox 2 Editor. Now get in game by pressing 'Ctrl+G'.
