What is CryWiki?

Welcome to the CryWiki! We are a community-driven project aimed at providing both comprehensive and intuitive means for assisting all levels of aspiring modders with both the CryENGINE2 Sandbox2 Editor and the Crysis Software Development Kit. This Wiki contains information that will prove useful to both beginners and advanced users alike. Whether you are here to share information and techniques with others, or you are just starting out with modding in general, CryWiki is your source for all things related to Crysis modding.



Do I need to register an account on CryWiki?

In order to fully utilize CryWiki, you must register an account at CryMod. Registration is quick, easy, and free! Once you are logged in, you will be able to create your own articles here on CryWiki and discuss existing articles.



How do I navigate through CryWiki?

You can find the main Community Portal for CryWiki here. This portal leads to each main section of the Wiki: Crysis Modding Documentation, Crysis Modding Code Samples, and Crysis Modding Links. The Crysis Modding Documentation section is where you will find documentation related to using the Sandbox2 Level Editor to create your own singleplayer and multiplayer maps, as well as helpful information regarding LUA, C++, and Flash ActionScript programming. The Crysis Modding Code Samples contains community-submitted samples of Flash, C++, LUA, and Flowgraph code which can be implemented in your mods. You can also post your own samples for the rest of the community to use and learn from. The Crysis Modding Links section contains various external links which lead to additional information that will help you with Crysis modding.

How do I contribute new information?

There are a number of ways you can contribute new information to the CryWiki. To contribute tutorials and other information pages, you can post new articles under the Crysis Modding Documentation section. As well as this, you can add examples of the various forms of scripting in CryEngine 2 in the Code Samples, plus contribute useful web pages in the Links category to help broaden the knowledge of the modding community.



How can I tell if information on CryWiki is correct?

The information contributed to the CryWiki is made by the registered users, so there is no way to make sure that all information contributed is 100% correct. However, the users and the staff work their hardest to ensure that information contributed and edited stays correct. If you see any information that appears incorrect, you could either research the topic and edit the article to put in the correct information, or contact a member of the CryWiki staff.



What are talk pages?

Each article on CryWiki has a corresponding talk page, which can be accessed by clicking on the “discussion” tab at the top of each article. The talk page is a place where users can offer feedback, ask questions, and generally discuss the content of each article.



What are user pages?

User pages are given to each registered user, where they may post personal information about themselves and their mods, as well as other related work. User pages also contain contact information, such as email addresses and messenger addresses. It is important to keep your user page up-to-date with correct information.

Your User page is not a place for you to spam or advertise. Your User page may be altered by a member of the CryWiki Staff Team if they feel you are abusing the page with such content.



What is the Sandbox2 Editor?

The Sandbox2 Editor is a professional grade, highly versatile tool which allows you to create custom levels and missions for Crysis. With the Sandbox2 Editor, you can modify terrain, place objects, script AI, and perform a wide variety of additional tasks. Players can create their own unique singleplayer and multiplayer maps, and are encouraged to share them on the Crymod Modding Portal. The Sandbox2 Editor is free with both the retail and demo versions of Crysis.



Where can I find the Sandbox2 Editor?

You can find the installer for the Sandbox2 Editor by exploring your copy of Crysis and looking in the “Sandbox2” directory. If you have the EA Downloadable version of Crysis, the Editor can be found as a separate download from the EA Downloader, or by looking in your temporary folder after you extract Crysis. The path should be similar to “x:\ProgramData\Electronic Arts\EADM\cache\{ *******}\crysis_se*\Sandbox2\ “



How do I install and use the Sandbox2 Editor?

Once you locate the Sandbox2 Installer, activate it and simply follow the on screen directions. It is recommended that Sandbox2 be installed in your Crysis directory (default) in order to fully utilize Crysis-related assets. You can launch the Editor from your Bin32 or Bin64 directories, depending on whether you wish to run it in either 32-bit or 64-bit mode.



Where can I find the official CryENGINE2 Documentation?

The official CryEngine2 documentation (manual) can be located here.



Where can I find additional tutorials?

There are numerous articles and tutorials in the Crymod Tutorial Database, as well as here on CryWiki. These tutorials offer explanations and details on how to use many different functions of both the Sandbox2 Editor and the Crysis Software Development Kit.



Is there a compilation of useful tips & tricks?

You may find numerous articles here on CryWiki that are full of useful tips & tricks. There is also a great collection here at the Crymod Modding Portal forums.



What is the SDK?

With the tools and the assets provided now modders will be able to not only get their own creations exported into the Sandbox2 Editor but will also be able to create complete new levels and modifications with outstanding content. Next to some basic sample assets that provide information on how to set things up correctly, this SDK also includes a few serious game assets. These are high poly objects that can be used as reference for own creations.

The Mod SDK v1.2 is the second release and includes the highly anticipated game source code of Crysis. With this code it is possible to implement your own functionalities and brand new features into the game and share it with the community.
