What is this about?

This short tutorial will teach how to ensure all 'Spec' machines get a realistic amount of light. It is important in all lighting to consider HDR and non-HDR lighting.

The best way to demonstrate is via example:

Here is a room being successfully lit by a Light source with r_hdrrendering 1:

Here is the same environment & settings, only without r_hdrrendering

Because Low/Medium Shader settings don't use HDR, it's important to consider the levels of HDR and Diffuse when using lighting.

The Method

The best method is always to turn off HDR Rendering first, then set the correct level of brightness with only the Diffuse Multiplier, then turn the HDR on and fine tweak that for users of 'High/Very High Shaders'.

This tutorial also applies to the Time of Day, where Sun Multiplier should be set first, along with Fog settings, then the HDR Dynamic Factor after.
